First online payment app, HesabPay provides online financial services in Afghanistan

HesabPay is the first online payment application in Afghanistan that was created by an Afghan trader in 2016 to help the people of Afghanistan in trade deals, their acquaintance with technology, and daily deals.

The application works on three languages-Pashto, Dari, and English- and is usable for both Android and ios operating systems.

Speaking exclusively with Khaama Press’s Firoz Sidiqy, the acting head of HesabPay Wahid Niawash said that the application is user-friendly and one can only create an account by adding a mobile number, scanning his ID, and taking a self-portrait.

“HESABPAY HAS DIFFERENT USES. BIG STORES, DRUGSTORES, AND STORES OF CLOTHES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE APPLICATION AND USERS CAN SHOP ONLINE THROUGH THE APPLICATION THAT IS BOTH FACILITIES FOR THE SHOPPERS AND BUYERS. PEOPLE CAN ALSO PAY THEIR ELECTRICITY BILLS, TAX, AND INTERNET BILLS. USERS CAN ALSO RECHARGE THEIR MOBILES AND CAN ALSO TRANSFER MONEY TO PEOPLE.” SAID NIAWASH.

In the meantime, Niawash added that HesabPay is a private firm and has no link with government.

He further said that by such kind of application they mean to bring facilities in trade, life, and daily activities of people and that governments in Afghanistan should pave the ground for the growth of these applications.

Niawash also said that by such kinds of applications they aim to have Afghanistan free of trade deals by cash and online payments be applicable in the country.

“GOAL OF THE HESABPAY HAS FOUR PHASES, FIRST:  ALL THE PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN SHOULD INSTALL THE APP, 400,000 PEOPLE HAVE SO FAR INSTALLED THE APP IN 24 PROVINCES. SECOND: ALL STORES MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE APPLICATION. THIRD: ALL PRIVATE AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES SHOULD GET PAID THROUGH HESABPAY AND FOREIGN AIDS SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH THE APP TO PREVENT CORRUPTION AND EMBEZZLEMENT. NOT A SINGLE PENNY WILL BE LOST IF THE APP IS USED AND THIS IS A TRANSPARENT SYSTEM OF PAYMENT. ” ADDED NIAWASH.

Though people are not fully acquainted with applications of such kind, users are happy to be using this payment application.

Habibullah Pakdil is a shopkeeper in the Western Herat province who has been using the application for a year.

PAKDIL SAID, “I AM CONVINCED USING THE APPLICATION BECAUSE IT IS EASY. CUSTOMERS IN HERAT PROVINCE ARE CONVINCED USING THIS APP AND NOW WE HAVE GOOD SELL. I HAVE BEEN WORKING HERE FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS BUT MY BUSINESS HAS FLOURISHED AFTER I STARTED USING HESABPAY. 10 TO 15 CUSTOMERS ARE DOING SHOPPING THROUGH HESABPAY ON DAILY BASIS.”
